Minister of Music

Kara Galathe is a dynamic vocalist, musician, and worship leader whose life and ministry are anchored in faith, excellence, and a lifelong love for gospel music. Born in San Francisco and raised in Sacramento by her grandparents, Kara discovered her musical gift at just three years old and has been cultivating it ever since.

Her passion for gospel music was nurtured at New Hope Baptist Church in Sacramento, where she began singing in the children’s choir and eventually emerged as a young choir director and founder of the “Voices of Praise” Young Adult Choir. Over the years, Kara served in multiple roles including percussionist, Praise and Worship leader, and choir director building a reputation for powerful leadership and strong musical instincts.

Kara has contributed her talents to several community and Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) choirs and has sung background vocals for renowned gospel artists such as Shirley Caesar, Twinkie Clark, Byron Cage, Callie Day, Melinda Watts, and many others. In 2016, she co-founded the gospel group “Sincerity,” expanding her reach in ministry and performance.

Her musical abilities extend beyond gospel into classical repertoire, with training in German, Italian, and Spanish vocal literature. She currently serves as an independent psalmist with East Lawn Mortuary, ministering at funerals, memorials, and special community events. She is also a respected music clinician, offering vocal training and ministry development to churches throughout the region.

Today, Kara serves as the Minister of Music for Hilliard  AME Zion Church, where she leads with passion, integrity, and a heart to cultivate worship rooted in excellence. Her mission is simple: to use her God-given gifts to inspire others, elevate worship, and give all glory to God.
